Coinbase Wallet could remove dapp browser functionality to comply with Apple’s policy
In a Reddit Post, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said that Apple appears to be removing the usage of Dapps from the App Store.
“Coinbase CEO here. This is really unfortunate to see. Apple seems to be eliminating usage of Dapps from the App Store…
“[T]his is quite disturbing. And presumably this would extend to other wallets as well (Trust, Argent, Metamask) it’s beyond Coinbase and IMO a very big threat to the ecosystem.”
Users wishing to continue using Dapps would be able to access them on the desktop with Coinbase Wallet by simply scanning a QR code via WalletLink. Armstrong went on to say that Apple customers who want to be able to use dapps might need to raise a request to the iPhone maker in some way.
“This is an important area of innovation in finance, and many developers and early adopters of this technology have millions of dollars worth of crypto tied up in these financial applications, which they will no longer be able to use on Apple mobile devices if this app store policy continues,” he continued.
This follows after Google suspended MetaMask’s Android client from its Google Play App Store, The Block reported.
Commenting on these latest developments, crypto influencer Omar Bham said:
Coinbase is removing decentralized application interaction from their mobile wallet, due to pressure from Apple.
Web3 is in direct competition with Google & Apple. We should expect continued censorship on MetaMask, Coinbase, & other dapp browsers.

Meanwhile, crypto influencers on YouTube started claiming last Monday that the online video streaming giant was deleting crypto-related content from its platform, Cointelegraph reported. However, within a few days, it admitted to the error on its part and started reinstating crypto-related videos.
